More than a third of the distance

7:30pm AEST

Hanna here … we’ve touched base with everyone and it’s coming up to 5hrs so happily Kaise is more than a third of the distance.

Ryan has woken from a power nap after his first hour as support swimmer, putting some Vaseline under his arms for lubrication and is shivering in the breeze.

As cargo and passenger cruise ships pass by they are leaving some good swell for Kaise and captain Andy to contend with.  Anne, the onboard official observer from Channel Swimming Assoc, thinks that some of them were too close for comfort.

One of these was the Sea France, a car ferry but some call it the “Sea Chance” as there is always a chance it will be on strike just when you need it.

Kaise was asking for more water which is fair enough on this warm day and especially in salt water.  Compared to last week’s weather, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is a “perfect day” in terms of the warm weather for England’s standards, sun being out, calm waters and wind easing from the last few days.  As an example, my mother was almost blown all the way to France yesterday on her way back from the shops to the caravan park.

The team here back in Sydney are all very excited with the regular updates and hope that you can stay with us for a few hours more into the night.

Cheers,

Hanna
