11pm AEST

Earlier today we raised a large Australian flag that once flew in the Australian parliament and signed by the speaker of the house.  It was given to Kaise as a gift my Ms Julia Irwin, Federal MP for Fowler.  It is rustling proudly in the wind.

The conditions are remaining fantastic with only a slight swell (less than Sydney Harbour).  Kaise’s father and sister are happy to be on board to experience this with Kaise especially with tolerable conditions as they usually get sea sick.

The stroke rate remains at around 56 per min and coach Daniel is not worried unless it gets below 40.  He’s been monitoring Kaise’s swimming form and mental / physical state very well throughout the whole day.

We can now see the lighthouse on Cap Gris Nez where it is aimed for Kaise to complete the crossing.  It is well to the South but we’ll drift past it when the tide turns and then back towards it when is turns again.

Past the 8½ hr mark now, Kaise is experienced in these endurance swims having attempted the Bundeena to Bondi swim which was initially averted at the 8hr mark due to bad weather, also a 10hr / 30Km cold water swim and finally the complete Bundeena to Bondi swim of 33Kms in 11hrs.

Hey Kaise - almost there now! I'm sure there's a very happy party waiting and cheering for you on the other side! Keep it up!

Kaise, I have just watched a thriller, but what was that compared to your swim. Nothing! The target is already in sight. It can't escape any more. Keep your rhythm and aim carefully. You are almost there.

To the whole team! You are incredible. Sitting here in Watford (near London) looking at the screen for updates. Our thoughts are with you every stroke of the way. All the best to Kaise and Ryan.
