6am AEST

Sorry guys I fell asleep on the couch waiting for the SMS or phone call when Kaise was feeling good to talk to me himself … which understandably didn’t occur once Kaise got dressed, had a meal and is now sleeping.

After a quick photo shoot on the beach with support swimmer Ryan and the flags, he returned back to the boat very cold and emotional in disbelief, relief and joy.

The meal comprised of Mum’s pumpkin soup in an attempt to quickly regain body warmth and of course topped with chocolate.

He has been sleeping on the boat ever since and likewise the whole team are all very tired from the early start, long day and being cold out on the water.

At Dover Harbour, the rest of the team will be waiting for what can only be described as a big welcome although we know it’ll be much more joyful and tearful … there will be his wife Svetlana, baby boy Michaelangelo, mother, cousin Mark and family.

Kaise, just wishes to head straight to bed and I believe he’ll also be too focussed on this “goal” for anyone to convince him otherwise (i.e. staying up and celebrating the evening away … it’s now 9pm Sunday for them).

He’ll tomorrow jump on the computer to personally see all your messages of encouragement and congratulations so keep them coming.

Remember also that the fundraiser continues so thanks to all those who have already generously donated and spread the word to their family and friends about this campaign to help save kids’ lives.

Many thanks again and God bless,

Hanna

Congratulations Kaise & family & team for all the hard work, efforts and dedication! We are all very happy for you in the Sydney office - it's going to be the "hottest" news travelling around the office this morning! Have a good break and some much deserved rest and time with Svetlana and Michelangelo. I think you can still keep your chocolate milkshake habit for a while to regain your energy =)

Inspirational! Not sure exactly how it would feel after a 12.5 hour swim but sleep sounds appropriate! Kaise, the 2.5 year journey itself is absolutely amazing and the swim really is the 'icing on the cake!'<br>Congrats and hope you and the support crew enjoy the remaining magical time there and I look forward to seeing you back in Sydney.

Re: got dressed, ate and slept    By Adam Wechsler on 14/07/2008 4:16 PM
Awesome news Kaise! Congratulations on a heroic effort. Your name is now where it belongs – in the record books. You & your team have raised so much money for such a great cause. However just as valuable as the money is the inspiration you have given to so many people. That cannot be quantified. The comments on this blog show that. Danny and Ryan are heroes. They have given so much of their time and effort with the sole purpose of trying to help others. The same goes for everyone else who has helped the project and of course Svetlana. As the saying goes behind every good man is a great woman.<br>By the way Kaise your time of 12 1/2 hours looks like it would place you in the top half of successful crossings!<br>
